While the initial peak in popularity can be given to YouTubers and Twitch Streamers, Among Us has its own perks that make it the perfect game to play during these complicated times. The game connects people, strangers and long time friends alike, with short games that are infinitely re-playable. The game also grants the players the chance to have a conversation while in a lobby before a game, and lets you keep playing with the same people over and over.

In times of COVID 19, it is a game not far away from a puzzle and mystery game that would connect people at a party. Therefore, the game has achieved and maintained its fans with simple yet effective features that created a community and gave everyone a fun time.

Why should Among Us be used in the classroom?

The Among Us game features more than just finding the impostor and doing tasks. The game gives the players an opportunity to learn about life in space! You have to get on a ship, similar to the Skeld map, and stay on top of things like electricity, oxygen levels, and many other things. On the other hand, the game offers the opportunity to teach about the differences between fiction and reality while dealing with the experience of outer space.

In times of social distancing and children that may not be interested in watching videos, maybe interactive games such as Among Us are one of the most helpful resources. We could all use the opportunity to interact more informally with students, all while learning about Science, Technology, Science, Arts and Maths!
