Book Donations for Schools and Public Libraries

Our book donation program, called Science Suitcases, provides schools and public libraries with ‘suitcases’ of STEM-themed books, games, and educational materials. Suitcases provide books that help students explore unique and interesting STEM topics while practicing their literacy skills. This program serves Title 1 and rural K-12 schools and public libraries in rural and/or economically disadvantaged areas.

2022-2023 Impact

During the 2022-2023 school year, we partnered with Art Technically founder and Miss United States 2022 Lily K. Donaldson during her campaign across the United States to promote STEM education for underserved communities. Lily hosted science storytimes and delivered STEM and STEAM children’s books to underserved communities in 15 states.

Miss United States reads "How to Code a Sandcastle" to a group of children in a public library.

2021-2022 Impact

During the 2021-2022 school year, we sent books to schools with a total of 5,560 students 48% of which receive free/reduced lunch, 75% of which don’t meet grade-level proficiency for reading, and 67% of which don’t meet grade-level proficiency for math. Over 100 books were donated in total to elementary and middle schools in each of Tennessee’s 9 congressional districts.
